New Delhi April 22, 2013
The second India Internet Day by The Indus Entrepreneurs, TiE Delhi - National Capital Region chapter will bring together scores of thought-leaders and successful start-ups in the Internet space Friday April 26.
Of the several sought after keynotes to be delivered that day, one by Waleed Rashed, who galvanized the youth movement at Egyptian capital’s Tahrir Square last April to influence a generation and move a nation, could emerge as a show stopper.
Waleed will share experiences of his team in a fireside chat on “Vox Populi and Technology in shaping emerging economies”.
The India Internet Day will be attended by Internet geeks, e-commerce strategists, venture capitalists and hundreds of aspiring internet start-ups and addressed by senior leaders from companies like Adobe, Flytxt, Google, Microsoft and Vodafone.
Raghuram Rajan, Chief Economic Adviser to the Government of India will put on his academic hat and global experience to reflect on a variety of issues in the emerging Internet economy.
Shashi Tharoor, Minister of State for Human Resource Development and author of 13 books who has over 1.7 million followers on his micro blogging site Twitter will deliver a closing key note on Emergence of Social Media in Politics and Governance.
Geetika Dayal Executive Director TiE Delhi–NCR says, “We hope to learn from Waleed Rashed's fireside chat at India Internet Day how technology influences and shapes emerging economies, especially in low social media adoption and internet penetration.
“This will allow entrepreneurs to appreciate better the nuances of social media and how to leverage it to grow early stage businesses,” Ms Dayal added
In addition to several sessions the India Internet Day will present an opportunity to get mentored by seasoned entrepreneurs and investors on start up business challenges that emerge from converting business plans into action points, nascent understanding of marketing, sales and operations and the complex task of raising funds.
Alan Hellawel, Managing Director of Deutsche Bank Asia Pacific will deliver a keynote on Internet Models: What Worked, What Didn’t and What’s Next.
About two dozen investors will share their investment focus, learn about the companies they have invested in and seek answers to questions about investment criteria.
Leading Indian Internet entrepreneurs like Sanjeev Bikhchandani, Deep Kalra and Alok Mittal will share their perspectives on what makes Internet companies tick.
