Synopsis: Bernarda's Backstage, wordless version of Lorca's tragedy, which becomes visible in the original work of Lorca literally not seen. A tribute to freedom, always in danger, and courage of living in against repressive social norms, even at the risk of losing their lives. "Bernarda's Backstage" is a multidisciplinary theater production including experimentation and mixing several languages and stage techniques such as object theater (using rod puppets, puppet theater, Otome Bunraku, Japanese bunraku and shadows) the performer as an actor and manipulative, dance, the use of video, and video projections.
Director biography: Alejandra Prieto (Spain, 1973). Masters in theater at Sarah Lawrence College in New York. Is theater director, performer and specialist handling bunraku puppets and Viewpoints technique, which has developed techniques by masters like Dan Hurlin, Basil Twist, Blindsummit and Viewpoints with Anne Bogart and the Siti Company. Back in Spain has participated in other theater productions with the Reló company and Mari Cruz Planchuelo with other artists and has been in residence in labor and in the Centro Párraga of Murcia creating Bernarda's Backstage. As a teacher has taught bunraku, theater directing, Viewpoints technique and interpretation in several centers in Spain, the U.S. and UK. She received a Fulbright scholarship for artists to study in the U.S. in 2005-2007. In 2012 lead the direction of puppets in the show "Yermedea" by Erik Ehn, presented at La Mama in the fall of 2012 in New York.
