Oz gives $22m subsidy to Leagues


Australian federal government is to provide over $22 million of direct subsidy in order to attract the Hollywood film 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea down under , film directed by David Fincher for Walt Disney Studios, but a schedule and locations have not been firmed up as casting decisions have not been locked.
Australian government will put up US$22.6 million (A$21.6 million).
This  announcement was made by Prime Minister Julia Gillard and Arts Minister Tony Burke, inducement is understood to be the largest Australia has ever provided to attract an overseas movie. The ministers said that they expect the film to create up to 2,000 jobs.
The film will also be eligible for location subsidies, making the combined government investment roughly 30% of its estimated US$150 million budget.Media agencies
