INDIAN SMALL INDUSTRY TO OPPOSE FDI IN RETAIL

NATIONAL CONCLAVE ON 22nd NOVENBER AT NEW DELHI

 

In a meeting held by Khudra FDI Virodhi Rashtriya Morcha held today at New Delhi, several leading organisations representing small and medium scale industries, cottage industries etc. have unanimously decided to launch a national campaign against FDI in Retail as the provisions of the notification allowing FDI in Retail Trade, issued on 20th September,2012 are much detrimental to the interests of small industries which is already reeling under great recession.The meeting was attended by Satish Garg, ML Dhawan, Ravinder Nath Bansal, Prakash Jain, Subodh Jindal, Gouri Shankar Bansal, Anil Garg, Subhash Goyal, Vijay Malik.

 

Shri Ved Prakash Gupta, National Convenor of MSME Cell of the Morcha informed today that the decision of the Government to allow FDI in Retail will culminate into eating up of small scale industries. The provision of computing 30% sourcing from Indiam small Industries from the total procurement of first five years of the business operations of global retailers in India is bound to kill the Indian Small Industry as at least in first four years the global retailers will be free to outsource even 100% procurement from any part of the globe and will dump the material in India and the small industries because of its inherent problems and difficulties shall not able to compete with them and four years are quite enough for global retailers to kill any industry of their choice.

 

In a unanimous resolution passed at the meeting,the representatives of small industry organisations accused the Industry bodies like FICCI,ASSOCHAM and CII for playing in to the hands of the Government in order to suffer self-death of small industries India. Being the representative bodies of the industry, they were under obligation to advocate safeguards for the small industries but the Corporatisation of these Industry bodies has indulged in a sinister game to finish the small industries. The resolution further says that instead of giving stress to small industries issues, they are marketing FDI in Retail. The meeting strongly condemns the attitude adopted by these organisations.

 

The meeting also decided to launch a nationwide campaign against FDI in Retail and for this purpose a National Conclave of Small and Medium Scale Industries will be held at New Delhi on 22nd November which will largely be attended by representatives of small industries of different States. To make the small industries aware with the draconian provision contained in the notification and to establish nationwide contact with different small industry organisation to invite them for National Conclave, a small group consisting of Shri Ved Prakash Gupta, Shri Ravindra Nath Bansal and Shri Manohar Lal Dhawan has been constituted.
