KAPIL SIBAL OFFERED TO HOLD TALKS WITH TRADERS ON FDI IN RETAIL
In a meeting held with trade leaders of
Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) held at her residence today
while accepting the suggestion of CAIT, the Delhi Chief Minister Smt.
Shiela Dikshit announced to constitute a joint Committee of VAT
Commissioner and other officials and representative of trade which will
deliberate upon various problems of the traders on VAT and will also
discuss ways and means to ensure smooth flow of trade in Delhi and
increase in revenue of the Government. Union Minister Shri Kapil Sibbal
was especially present at the meeting. Trade Leaders of more than 100
Trade Associations of different parts of Delhi attended the meeting.
CAIT National Secretary General Mr. Praveen
Khandelwal explained in detail the problems of the traders. On the
occasion he also presented CAIT publications on FDI in Retail to both
Smt. Dikshit and Shri Sibal. Responding to FDI in Retail, Mr. Sibbal
said that before divulging the views to public by way of books, the
traders should have apprised the Government about their perception and
views and also understand the take of the Government.However, he offered
to hold talks with Traders on the issue of FDI in Retail. CAIT
Secretary General Mr. Khandelwal apprised that CAIT has made all efforts
to hold discussion with Government including Union Commerce Minister
but so far the Government has not made any efforts to hold talks with
stakeholders including the traders. However, Mr. Khandelwal accepted the
invitation of Shri Sibal to hold conclusive talks on FDI in Retail.
Delhi Chief Minister Smt. Shiela Dikshit while
addressing the traders lauded the contribution of trading community in
development of Delhi. She said that traders are the major source of
revenue of the Government and therefore the traders should not face any
undue harassment. While accepting the demand of the traders she
declares to extend the last date of filing online information about
goods imported from other States before its entry to Delhi from 25th
October,2012 to 31st December,2012.She also assured the traders that
their other problems pertaining to VAT about extension of C Form date
and levy of Form 32 and 33 will be sort out shortly.
