Telangana issue rocks LS for second day

The issue of separate Telangana and the derogatory remarks by Team Anna against MPs created uproar in the Lok Sabha for the second day on Tuesday with several members raising the issues forcefully.

Amid uproar, Speaker Meira Kumar adjourned the House for till 1400 hrs.

As soon as the House met for the day, Congress members from Telangana as also TDP and TRS members rushed to the Well demanding a separate state.

Kumar asked them to go back to their seats to allow newly elected Congress member K Jayaprakash Hegde to take oath.

He won the recent Udipi-Chikmaglur bye-election in Karnataka and took his oath in Kannada.

On the Chair's request, the agitating members returned to their seats when Hegde took oath. But, they soon returned to the Well shouting slogans.

Amid din, only one question could be taken up during Question Hour and replies to supplementaries were not audible.

The agitated members were joined in the Well by members from JD-U, who were raising slogans against Team Anna for their verbal attack on parliamentarians.

When the Speaker told JD-U leader Sharad Yadav that the issue raised by him will be taken up at 4 pm, his party colleagues returned to their seats.

Leader of the Opposition Sushma Swaraj said the government should heed to the demands for a separate Telangana state for which her party was willing to extend support.

As pandemonium continued for 15 minutes, the House was adjourned till 1400 hrs
