Haryana: Jat protest continues despite of agreement between Khap leaders and govt
Mar 12, 2012: In Haryana, the jat protesters continue to sit on rail
tracks and roads affecting the traffic adversely. The protesters sitting
on Dharna at Mayyer and other places along with the family of the
deceased youth Sandeep have refused to leave the rail tracks, saying
they would continue with Jat reservation stir. The Jat Khap leaders who
held talks with the government tried to convince the protestors but did
not succeed. As a result the mortal remains of the deceased youth,
killed in police action could not be consigned to flames on Sunday. The
Jat leaders will again hold a meeting with the protesters tomorrow
morning and try to convince them. The 101 jat protesters released by
Haryana government from Hisar jail earlier are also camping at Mayyer.
They had been arrested during the jat reservation stir and released as
per the agreement reached at Hisar between 16 member committee of Jat
khap leaders and representatives of government on Saturday. Earlier the
Chief Minister, Mr Bhupinder Singh Hooda, called the cabinet meeting at
chandigarh and apprised it of the talks held with the representatives
of the Jat agitators at Hisar. The cabinet took stock of the situation
and approved the action taken by the government so far.
