USA retail sales was $399b last month – equal to just
$400b in India
for full year. Foods and drinks alone exceed $450b for 27% population. Annual
retail sales exceed $4600m. Now Walmart sales is around $300b and $400b
worldwide – so Walmart share of US market is barely 6.5% only and employ 2m
worldwide.
Walmart employs 1.5 million
people for 6.5% sales in USA – this means for 300 million populations US
employs more than 23 million people in retail directly and 7 million indirectly
for servicing. USA
employs 10% population in retail.
But in India out of 40 million employed in retail 80%
do illegal business on road sides or street vending barely earning $2 per day –
hourly rate in USA
is $12.
