A few things to know about Trump-Pence, Naresh
Naresh —
Yesterday Donald Trump selected Governor Mike Pence of Indiana as his running mate. So I want to take a minute to talk about what it means if Trump wins this election and takes over the country with Pence by his side (hint: it’s not pretty).
Naresh, the best way to predict future behavior is by looking at past behavior. We can get a pretty good idea of how Pence would help Trump govern by looking at how Pence ran Indiana as its governor:
- He signed into law the Religious Freedom Restoration Act, which permitted discrimination against Indiana’s LGBT residents, earned national backlash and ridicule from individuals and corporations alike, and cost Indiana $60 million in revenue
- He signed into law one of the country’s most restrictive abortion laws, and has actually said, “If it’s pro-life, I’ll sign it”
- He cut funding for Planned Parenthood across Indiana, resulting in one community losing its sole HIV testing center (the state later faced an unprecedented HIV epidemic)
- He doesn’t want to do anything to address the gender pay gap
- He lowered corporate taxes while cutting funding for higher education and pre-k
Trump likes to say that there’s no one better for women. He promises that there’s no one better for “the gays.” So it’s telling that he’s chosen one of the most anti-women, anti-equality Republicans in the country to help him govern.
It shows where he really stands and exactly what he’s prepared to do to win this election.
We can’t let these guys into the White House. Chip in now, get a free sticker and help us build an even stronger team that will send Trump back to Trump Tower and Pence back to the Hoosier State, and keep them both a safe distance from the Oval Office:
