Trump’s campaign is ramping up, Naresh

Trump’s campaign is ramping up

A strange thing has been happening to the Trump campaign over the last few weeks.
First, they raised $51 million dollars with the help of the RNC in June (which is dangerously close tooutraising us)! Don’t forget that almost $4 million of that money came directly from a check that Trump wrote himself.
Then, they started to grow their campaign organization. They’re beefing up their communications team, for instance — literally hiring the old communications director from Citizens United (the organization that was the subject of that charming Supreme Court case) to run an operation deploying surrogates who will amplify Trump’s message all over the country. There’s now a rapid response director to come up with delightful, new attacks against Hillary. They even brought on a digital director — presumably to ramp up their Twitter output.
Meanwhile, the Republican Party began nailing down its official platform with a few of Trump’s most extreme suggestions at the center — like this wall we’ve heard so much about.
And sometime this week, we’ll meet Trump’s vice presidential candidate. We hear that the shortlist includes names like Newt Gingrich, Mike Pence, and Chris Christie. We’ll have more to say about this crew later.
With every passing day, we’re watching Trump’s campaign become more professional. We’re seeing him add more capacity for big-dollar fundraising, get more sophisticated with message coordination, and bring on all the other capabilities we expect from a modern presidential operation.
And by the way, all of that’s happening while Trump’s still Trump — still able to dominate the attention of the media and get millions and millions of dollars in free airtime any time he says something outrageous.
So if you had yourself convinced that Trump’s chances were hopeless, it’s time to start thinking otherwise.
