Happy to flag off trial run of India’s First Unattended Train Operation (UTO) enabled Trains…
The new trains which will be put on trials today, in Phase 3 of DMRC, line 7 (Majlis Park – Shiv Vihar – 58.59 kms) and line 8 (Janakpuri West – Botanical Garden – 38.23 kms), will have these new Metro trains with extremely high levels of automation, which will have the capability of running without drivers in the future. However, these trains will run with drivers initially.
A new type of signalling, called the Communication Based Train Control (CBTC) will permit this type of operation and will enable trains to run at a frequency of 90 seconds.
This is the first time, trial runs of such Metro trains will commence in India and is a significant step in the completion of Delhi Metro’s Phase 3 with the latest technology available internationally.
These trains will have higher average speed than the present trains and will be more energy efficient with state of the art noise reduction features. Many other attractions such as wifi internet, LCD screens with video streaming capacity, USB port facility etc will add a new dimension to the overall travelling experience of the commuters.
Dr Swamy, bomb ticking away in BJP’s basement.
In te resting tweets
I aren’t surprised that Dr Subramaniam Swamy wants RBI governor Raghuram Rajan sacked. That’s just the beginning. His next target will be Finance Minister Arun Jaitley whom he recently called a bug of the Congress in the NDA.
And thereafter…..who knows? He’s a bomb ticking away in BJP’s basement.

COAST GUARD HELICOPTER RECOVER TWO DROWNED BODIES OFF MARINA BEACH
Chennai-15 May 16. Coast Guard helicopter CG 801, has recovered bodies of two boys from Marina Beach this morning.
On 14 May 16, at around 1840 hours Coast Guard Maritime Rescue Co-ordination Centre (MRCC) Chennai received information from Coastal Security Group regarding drowning of two boys off Marina Beach at about 1740 hours. On receipt of the information the CSG boats were deployed immediately along with the beach patrol party from the Police for the search of drowned persons. The Coast Guard launched Search and Rescue operation by first light on 15 May 16. During extensive search operation conducted by Coast Guard helicopter in two sorties which lasted for two hours forty five minutes, the helicopter has recovered two bodies both off Marina beach. The bodies were subsequently handed over to local police for necessary formalities.
It is understood that the two students namely Srinivasan and Sivagurunathan aged 17 and16 years respectively came to the beach for summer excursion and were bathing behind Gandhi statue. Due to the strong tidal current along the Marina beach and steep variant depths the sea swimming is generally not safe. The Indian Coast Guard has been regularly sensitizing the local populace not to venture to sea for beach swimming to avoid drowning incident/loss of life.
“Drought Duty”, an internship to invoke,
Dear Naresh Kumar Sagar,
We are pleased to inform you that we have launched a new campaign of nation building – “Drought Duty”, an internship to invoke, involve and actively associate youth in understanding drought and working for drought relief and mitigation.
We are calling upon young people to devote at least 1 week in offering help in drought affected rural areas.
Tasks the interns will do:
• Gather data through surveys of drought affected areas
• Understanding what drought means to rural people at multiple levels
• Map water resources of villages
• Plan with local communities for revival of water resources
• Disseminate entitlement information
• Assist rural poor in paper work necessary for access to entitlements
Outcomes we expect:
• The data gathered from surveys, will become the definitive yardstick for all further plans made by any level of government and can be asserted by people themselves.
• The data from water resource mapping will be used to prepare village level watershed management plans.
What do we need from you (members of Swaraj Abhiyan)
To come forward and be a part of the program by volunteering to be a Trainer for the interns on behalf of Swaraj Abhiyan at the various centers for the internship program. The entire duration of the program is from 26th May to 15th July. You are requested to commit to being a trainer for at least two batches of interns (approximately 19 days). We’d be grateful if you can devote more days than this.
As a Trainer, you will be expected to supervise the activities, safety and engagements of the interns and participate in the internship orientation program.
Shruti of Swaraj Abhiyan is coordinating this program and can be contacted at drought.volunteer@gmail.com, please add “volunteer for Drought Duty” in the subject text; or, over the phone at 7065003180.
We eagerly look forward to your help and hope for a positive response from you.
