Sul greto del Tevere si rinviene il cadavere di una mondana assassinata. Sono sospettati un ladruncolo, un pappa, un soldatino, due teneri adolescenti. Ciascuno ha un alibi e racconta la propria storia. L'assassino è altrove. 1 film di B. Bertolucci, il più giovane esordiente del cinema italiano (ventun anni). Il soggetto è di Pasolini, ma il film non è pasoliniano nello stile. Gusto, fantasia e due momenti di poesia.

Synopsis:
Forty year old Nanà runs a small bookstore in Florence. Despite the constant naggings of her well-to-do-family, she has no intention of making anything more of her life. As for her sentimental interests, though secretly in love with Bauer, a self-centred novelist who takes advantage of her feelings to obtain small professional favours, she has pretty much given up on finding her Prince Charming and living happily ever after. In fact, the unpleasant end to what she thought was the love of her life has left her allergic to the very idea of matrimony. Then her younger sister Beatrice has the absurd idea of asking Nanà to organise her wedding. After an irresistible series of mishaps and plot twists, Nanà takes a good look at her own situation and decides to change it. La quarantenne Nanà vive a Firenze dove gestisce una atrimo libreria. Oppressa da una famiglia ultraborghese, Nanà vive sola e non ha nessuna intenzione di dare una svolta alla propria esistenza. Non vuole arricchirsi affermandosi professionalmente e ha rinunciato a trovare l’uomo della sua vita, pur essendo segretamente segretamente innamorata del narcisissimo e avventuroso romanziere Bauer, che la sfrutta per piccole collaborazioni. Sarà in occasione del matrimonio della giovane sorella Beatrice, che Nanà dovrà stravolgere le proprie abitudini e distruggere ogni certezza. A partire all’organizzazione delle nozze, assurdamente affidata alla super-single Nanà allergica ai matrimoni, si dipanerà una serie irresistibile di esilaranti situazioni. Colpi di scena imprevisti e scoperte inaspettate porteranno Nanà ad aprire gli occhi sulla propria condizione e a desiderare di cambiarla.
