Smriti Mehra clinches the second leg of Hero WPGT 2013

Kolkata February 7, 2013: Veteran golfer Smriti Mehra sealed her first title of the season with a comprehensive victory in the second leg of the Hero WPGT 2013. Smriti carded a two under 68 on the final day and finished with a total score of 203 to emerge victorious at the Tollygunge Golf Club here in Kolkata. Sharmila Nicollet (71), who was placed fourth after the second round, came back strongly to finish joint second with Vani Kapoor (72), both with a total score of 216.

Smriti Mehra has been very consistent in this leg and her consistency and form is reflected from the fact that she was the only player to have under par scores (67-68-68) in all the three days. She carded four birdies at the 6^th, 7^th , 13^th and 15^th hole.

Sharmila, who is returning after an injury, hit an eagle at the 10^th hole, which helped her finish at the second spot along with Vani Kapoor, who had a single birdie at the 9^th. Neha Tripathi, winner of the first leg finished fourth with a triple bogey at the 12^th hole and a total score of 219. 

Rani Sonti (223) finished fifth and Ankita Tiwana grabbed the sixth spot with a score of 227.

The next leg will be played at the Bombay Presidency Golf Club, Mumbai.
