Palestinian President accepts resignation of Prime Minister


President Mahmoud Abbas has officially accepted the resignation of his new prime minister Rami Hamdallah. “The president accepted the resignation of the prime minister and designated him to head an interim government,” Abbas spokesman Nabil Abu Rdaineh said. Though Hamdallah became prime minister two weeks ago, he decided to step down last Thursday supposedly after a dispute over authority with his deputy, who is an Abbas loyalist and is close to the ruling Fatah party.

Wire walks across the Grand Canyon

 World famous aerialist Nik Wallenda  set a record by walking unharnessed a quarter mile over the Grand Canyon. The  twenty two minute walk was completed on a 2-inch-thick steel cable, 1,500 feet above the abyss.  The event was broadcast live on the Discovery Channel. Last Year, Wallenda set a record by walking across Niagara Falls.

Tourist climbers killed in Pakistan 

A group of climbers shot dead by Taliban-linked gunmen in Pakistan’s Himalayas have been officially identified. Authorities in Islamabad say there were three Ukrainians, three Chinese, one with dual American citizenship, two tourists from Slovakia, a Lithuanian, and the group’s sherpa from Nepal. The bodies of the victims will soon be repatriated. Until the Saturday killing on the slopes of Nanga Parbat, the second tallest mountain in the country, Northern Pakistan has been considered free from Islamists violence seen elsewhere Pakistan. Militants from Junood ul-Hifsa, a new faction of the Taliban, have taken responsibility for the attack, claiming they did it to reciprocate for US drone attacks on Taliban and Al-Qaeda operatives.

Israel hits Gaza in response to rocket fire


The Israeli Air Force have struck two arms depots at the center of the Gaza Strip, reportedly in response to rocket fire into the south of Israel. Six rockets were fired late Sunday night, according to the Jerusalem Post. Four rockets were launched towards the Bnei Shimon council area and Netivot. The ‘Iron Dome’ system intercepted two missiles aimed at the Ashkelon Regional Council. No casualties or damage were reported.
