Greed of Chardham Yatra – Rs.20,000 crore Business No Facility
June20, 2013

I am responding to a minister of Bihars comments. First picture here points to Kedarnath Temple build in the Flood Plain of the Kedar Valley – A 50m high Dam to protection Shirine could have prevented all deaths – may not cost even Rs.200 cr. This is 100% natural tragedy. And as per annexure even in normal times it takes 4 days to reach Kedarnath ShrineKosi Floods Bihar issued Tenders to plug 2000ft breach after 4-5 months 2008. Here entire rivers are washed away.

As per his own assessment there were over 15-20,000 Devotees at Kedarnath many hundred lodges each housing say 100 in a day also points to his estimate but going by the number of vehicles mainly buses in second picture points to over 20,000 devotees visiting Kedarnath Shrine every day. Kedarnath is situated at 11656 ft, 5100 ft above Gaurikund.

It is estimated over 30,000 pilgrims visit these Dhams every day for 200 days and 10,000 other places above Rishikesh every day – There are over 1 crore visitors to Uttarkhand – each spending over Rs.10,000 each plus purchases and offerings – so Uttarkhand earns Rs.20,000 crores from Religious Tourism, I see no Truck carrying supplies.  There were no Pilgrims registrations & Regulation of traffic.

It will be 13 years since the founding of Uttarakhand revenue from tourism was Rs.1,50,000 crores. Little went to Uttarakhand Goverment.

This has promoted ‘Unauthorized Unsafe Constructions Throughout The State’

– there were no Hospitals, no Parking facilities in case of blockages, road were inadequate to serve such high traffic, there were no Flood Proof Shelters.

Switzerland of same size and slightly less population has 560 Dams more are coming, roads and highways are safe fast wide, has Electric Trains, Nuclear Power Stations.

When in Power BJP RSS, promotes Dams and Constructions by unqualified contractors – out of power oppose & Sabotage Development, there is no Cooperation and no rule of Qualified and Capable.
