Obama,Hu Jintao discuss Iran,Syria

US President Barack Obama and Chinese President Hu Jintao held talks following the end of the G20 summit in Los Cabos, Mexico, on Tuesday.Obama said before meeting Hu that they would discuss the Syrian issue in the hopes of finding a solution to the bloodshed. Obama also said he wanted to discuss Iran, North Korea and the challenges of curbing nuclear programs.

Hu said during the meeting that China is willing to work with the US to build a cooperative partnership and boost mutual trust.Iran and six other countries ended talks on Tehran's nuclear program in Moscow on Tuesday without progress.

  Obama apparently asked China to join efforts to step up economic sanctions on Iran. Hu is thought to have reiterated China's stance of opposing increased sanctions. China is the largest importer of Iranian crude oil.
