2G:Differences emerge UPA, NDA at JPC meet

A meeting of JPC examining 2G scam on Tuesday saw heated exchanges as BJP members demanded summoning of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and top PMO officials which was countered by Congress members with their own list of witnesses that included all NDA Telecom Ministers.

Sources said that Congress members on the other hand demanded that former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee should be called too.
Amid sharp differences, the internal meeting of the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) remained inconclusive.
JPC Chairman P C Chacko is likely to table an "exhaustive" list of witnesses in the next meeting for members to decide.
Countering the demand of BJP to summon former telecom minster A Raja before the JPC, the UPA members demanded if Raja is called, then all the ministers concerned of the previous NDA government must also be called.
BJP leaders Yashwant Sinha and Jaswant Singh offered to quit the JPC in order to depose before it.
