The ARG Presidential Palace confirmed President Ghani has accepted the resignation of National Directorate of Security (NDS) Chief Rahmatullah Nabil’s resignation.A statement by the Palace said “Mr. Nabil presented his resignation to the President of Afghanistan for approval today. Despite the President was not in favor of changes in this security department during the current situation, but he respected Mr. Nabil’s demand and approved it.”

The chairman of the human rights committee of the National Assembly was asked some tough questions by youth participants during a panel discussion held to commemorate Human Rights Day, in Thimphu. A youth audience member asked the chairman if there is any legislation to protect the third gender in Bhutan as they face social stigma and discrimination, and therefore are a vulnerable group.

Italy has donated EU 4 million (MVR 67 million) as free aid for the environment protection of the Maldives. Minister of Environment and Energy Thoriq Ibrahim and director general of the Italian Ministry for the Environment, Land and Sea, Dr Francesco La Camera signed the contract Wednesday at a ceremony held in the ongoing United Nations Climate Change Conference, COP 21, in French capital Paris.
Chine provides free aid to renovate the Islamic Center area

The Chinese Government has provided free aid to renovate the Islamic Center area at Maldives with marble flooring to accommodate as many people as possible in prayer. China provided $ 1.14 million in free aid for the project.  The cheque for freeaid was presented by the Chinese Ambassador to the Maldives Mr. Wang Fukang the Housing Minister Dr. Mohamed Muizzu at a special ceremony held at the Housing Ministry.

Rakhine group calls for suspension of Kyaukphyu SEZ project

The Rakhine Social Association has called for the suspension of two deep sea port projects to be built in the Kyaukphyu Special Economic Zone (SEZ) on Myanmar’s western coastline.  The project is planned as a key port in the Bay of Bengal which will serve as a hub for energy and goods from India, the Middle East and Africa.
Germany donates money to aid war refugees

The German government has awarded 1.38 million Euros through the WHH and Metta Development Foundation for humanitarian aid to people in Kachin and Shan states. Both states have large numbers of displaced people adversely effected by periodic clashes between ethnic armies and the government.

A source privy to the negotiations and the drafting of the agreement noted that the commencement of the process was predicated on Pakistan fulfilling its commitment regarding the speedy conclusion of the trial of Mumbai attack suspects.

Delhi, 11thDecember 2015:The OUE Singapore Slammers came out tops against the Philippine Mavericks as the Coca-Cola IPTL settled into the second day here in Delhi. The team was off to a terrific start, winning all their matches with aplomb and ending the evening with a 30-22 win over the Mavericks.


Match Summary:
  • In a hard fought match, the legends singles saw Moya getting the better of Philippoussis, winning the set 6-4
  • The mixed doubles pairing of Pliskova/Brown gave a superb fight to Gajdosova/Huey, drawing the set 5-5. The set saw 5 aces from the Slammers pair, ultimately winning it in the shoot-out to close the set 6-5
  • Rising star Belinda Bencic delivered yet another win for the Slammers against AjlaTomljanovic in just 25 minutes, in what was the shortest set of the evening, to win it 6-3
  • Men’s doubles saw some sensational tennis from Kyrgios/Melo matching stroke for stroke. Despite the shoot-out, it was their clever shot-making that won them the set 6-5 against Huey/Roger-Vasselin
  • Fired up with the previous set, both players took the court fully charged for the men’s singles. Kyrgios and Roger-Vasselin showcased superb tennis, with the Australian firing 10 aces against 2 from the Frenchman. Kyrgios finally won it in the shoot-out, to close the set 6-5 for his team

Nick Kyrgios: “We had a great match today, winning all our sets. I love the IPTL, it’s a great format, and I really look forward to this time of the year. For me personally, it’s not difficult adjusting to the regular game when I go back on the tour. It’s just fine.”
On the year gone by and the year ahead, he added, “I’ve had a great year, played some fantastic tennis, made it deep in the Grand Slam draw which is great. I’m not really a bad boy. I am young and its fine. But I also feel I’ve matured a lot in this year. I’m looking forward to the next season, I’m competitive, I play to win … so whether it’s a game of chess or football, I play to win!”

India and Japan signed several agreements

India and Japan today signed several agreements in the field of high speed rail, Defence Equipment and Technology security, infra, tech, education and economy.
The two countries also inked Memorandum of Understanding on civil nuclear energy.
The agreements were signed after the delegation level talks between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and visiting Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe in New Delhi.
