Peoples’ Joint Action Committee for Boroland Movement (PJACBM), a conglomeration of 52 organizations of different communities living in Boroland area on behalf of the Boro and other indigenous tribal people and also on behalf of the people of different communities living in Boroland has unanimously resolved to intensify the legitimate demand of separate state of Boroland and has been carrying out the non-violent, peaceful and democratic mass movement for separate state of Boroland following the resolution adopted in its executive meeting held on 2nd May 2012 at Guwahati.
The cry for separate state of Boroland is justified in all respects—politically, socially, economically geographically, historically and constitutionally for which the Boro and other Indigenous peoples along with bonafide citizens belonging to other communities of the proposed Boroland have been demanding since 1967.
We are happy that presently NDFB (Progressive) is on political dialogue with the Government of India to resolve the Boro people’s demand for Boroland state under the Article 2 & 3 of the Indian constitution.
We are happy to express that the Government of India has showed a good gesture to our demands which we have expressed through various democratic agitational programme including 1st January 2013 Economic Blockade as a result of which, a series of formal and informal meetings were held between NDFB (P) and MHA including a meeting with the Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde on 16th of January 2013.
PJACBM welcomes the decision of GoI to hold a tripartite talk on Boroland issue on 31st January to find an amicable solution as desired by us. As a mark of honour to GoI for showing positive response to our demands, we at PJACBM unanimously resolved to withdraw the proposed Boroland 100 HOURS BANDH call to be held from 21st January 2013. We are hopeful that the forthcoming tripartite talk between NDFB (P), Government of India and Government of Assam would yield an acceptable solution to our long cherished demand for creation of separate state of Boroland.
Further, we have come to learn from a reliable source that GoI is declaring Telangana on 28th of January. While welcoming the decision of the Government on Telegana, PJACBM, strongly urge the Government of India to also concede our legitimate demand for separate state of Boroland, failing to which we would be compelled to intensify our democratic, peaceful and non-violent mass movement more vigorously in days to come.
