Abstract:
RIVERS RUN BACK reveals many aspects of Indian and North American Culture, as seen through the lens of the marriage of Shankar Chatterjee, a social anthropologist from Allahabad and Marilyn Benson, an artist from New York. They raise their daughters in Vancouver, where their fates intertwine with that of a master criminal who falls in love with one sister while seeking to destroy the other. Their family fragments. But the end, events conspire to lead them back to India, where they find healing and wholeness.
