November core infra grows at 1.7%
The core infrastructure grows to 1.7% (Y-O-Y) in November 2013 as compared to (-) 0.6% (Y-O-Y) in October 2013. The combined index of Eight Core Industries stands at 153.5 in November 2013 with a growth rate of 1.7% as compared to 5.8% in November 2012. Crude oil and Natural gas registered a growth rate of 1.1% and (-) 11.3% respectively in the month of November 2013.

Electricity generation grew by 5% during Apr–Nov 2013-14 as against 4.6% growth during Apr–Nov 2012-13, while steel production grew by 4.3% during Apr– Nov 2013-14 as against 2.2% during Apr- Nov 2012-13. The production in crude oil grew by (-) 0.9% during Apr– Nov 2013-14 as compared to its growth at (-) 0.5% during Apr– Nov 2012-13, whereas petroleum refinery production registered a growth of 2.6% during Apr– Nov 2013-14 as compared to 29.7% during Apr– Nov 2012-13. Fertilizer production grew by 2.5% during Apr– Nov 2013-14 compared to its growth at (-) 3.3% during Apr– Nov 2012-13 and cement production grew by 4% during Apr– Nov 2013-14 compared to its growth at 7.7% during Apr– Nov 2012-13.

‘Engaging Diaspora: Connecting Across Generations’

Dear Sir,
I am pleased to inform you that the Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs, Government of India is celebrating the 12th edition of the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) with the theme “Engaging Diaspora: Connecting Across Generations” from January 7-9, 2014 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, India. The Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports is the partner Ministry for PBD 2014 and FICCI is managing and coordinating the event.
As you may be aware, PBD is a unique platform that connects over 2000 overseas Indians across 60 countries. Besides opportunities to connect with different stakeholders from Industry and Government, the PBD 2014 will offer new synergies to Indian Diaspora to network & collaborate across sectors in different States.
The Divas will be formally inaugurated on 8th January, 2014 by Hon’ble Prime Minister of India. On 7th January, a special seminar entitled the ‘Youth PBD’, will be held to focus on youth diaspora. Hon’ble President of India will deliver the Valedictory Address and confer Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Awards on 9th January 2014.
As on date, we have already received the registration from Australia, Bahrain, Canada, Fiji, France, Germany, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Kuwait ,Malaysia ,Mauritius ,Mozambique ,Netherlands, New Zealand ,Oman ,Portugal ,Qatar, Russia, Saudi Arabia ,South Africa, Switzerland ,Tanzania, Thailand ,United Kingdom, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom & United States of America (USA).
In recognition of the evolving significant and multidimensional role of Indian Diaspora, PBD 2014 will address the theme of ‘Engaging Diaspora: Connecting Across Generations’
PBD 2014 will also commemorate the remarkable contributions made by Indian Diaspora in building the growth story of modern India and also accentuates India’s position in the international arena.
Major highlights of the Twelfth Pravasi Bharatiya Divas are as follows:
