RELEASE THE
ARRESTED CARTOONIST
The Central Secretariat of the Communist Party of India (CPI) condemns
the arrest of award winning young political cartoonist Aseem Trivedi in Mumbai.
He was held on charges of sedition, cyber crime and of insulting the national
flag, Parliament and the Constitution of India through his cartoons. His sin is
that he sketched cartoons against corruption. Exposing corruption is sedition
in the eyes of the law in our country. It is a shame.
The CPI condemns the
unjustifiable wrongful arrest and demands his immediate release. The party also
demands exemplary action against these who masterminded his arrest.
