5.5 Magnitude Earthquake hit Tripura

Tuesday afternoon, tremors were felt across Northeast India as an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.5 jolted near the India-Bangladesh border.
The epicentre of the quake was near Ambassa in the Dhalai district of Tripura. Tripura government sources have confirmed that the epicenter in all likelihood is in Longtorai hill range between Ambassa and Kumarghat.
However, no report of damages has been reported till the filing of the story. Besides, the quake was also felt in neighbouring nations—Bangladesh, Northern Myanmar and Bhutan.

Hong Kong autonomy to be paramount

Chinese leaders are increasingly concerned about a fledgeling independence movement in Hong Kong, which returned to mainland rule in 1997 with a promise of autonomy known as “one country, two systems”, and recent protests in the city. China will not allow anyone to use Hong Kong as a base for subversion against mainland China or to damage its political stability, Beijing’s top official in the territory told state television.
In an interview with state television broadcast late on Sunday, Zhang Xiaoming, the head of China’s Liaison Office in Hong Kong, said Beijing will not interfere in matters that purely affect Hong Kong’s autonomy.
“As far as Hong Kong is concerned, nobody is permitted do anything in any form that damages the country’s sovereignty and security, they are not allowed to challenge the central government’s authority or that of Hong Kong’s Basic Law, they are not allowed to use Hong Kong for infiltration subversion activities against the mainland to damage its social and political stability,” Zhang said.
China’s parliament last month staged a rare interpretation of the Basic Law, Hong Kong’s mini-constitution, to effectively bar pro-independence city lawmakers from taking office there.
Chinese President Xi Jinping told outgoing Hong Kong Chief Executive Leung Chun-ying last month that China’s central government strongly supports efforts by the Hong Kong government to kerb moves by some promoting independence for the global financial hub.
The former British colony returned to China under the “one country, two systems” agreement that ensured its freedoms and wide-ranging autonomy, including a separate legal system.
But Communist Party rulers in Beijing have ultimate control, and some Hong Kong people are concerned they are increasingly interfering to head off dissent.

Supreme Court BCCI Judgment Apply to Political Parties & Corp

January03, 2017 (C) Ravinder Singh progressindia2015@gmail.com
Justice TS Thakur, Honorable Chief Justice of India delivered historic judgment in case of BCCI that shall ‘Define Conduct of All Public Institutions’ – Political Parties, Corporates, Cooperatives, Trusts and all Public Institutions.
I condemn the ‘Comments of Anurag Thakur, MP’ in suggesting that BCCI is Best Managed Institution which it is not.
To be Sports Specific – All top Star Players in all other countries Except India play in Local Tournaments & Leagues but none of Indian STAR PLAYER plays regularly in Ranji Trophy, Daleep Trophy, Deodhar Trophy etc.
While STAR PLAYERS earn Rs. Hundreds of Crores – National Players almost nothing in comparison. In better times – Professional Earnings were shared with BCCI and Team Members.
There is Obvious CORRUPTION in bidding of IPL Teams Player Selection when Payment Should Be Performance Linked.
I have not seen BCCI appointed Coach visiting Schools SCOUTING for Young Talent or Offering Scholarships to say 1000 Under 10 Year Players.
Judgment Allied to Political Parties & Corporate
Since 2009 I have ‘Campaigned for Ethics Code’ for Political Parties.
1.   Political Parties Should define thier ‘Policies’ in the Registration Document itself,
2.   Voters are on Election Eve or at times just 5-10 days before Polling Day release Party Election Manifestos and Voters have no time to study it – which are largely FALSE Promises. Election Commission Should INSIST On Political Parties to Release Their Manifesto Say A Month Before Nomination of Party Candidates.
3.   Candidates should register with EC atleast 12 months before Elections with Bio-data.
4.   ETHICS Should be IMPLEMENTED – A CM or A PM or A Governor should Not Serve for more than 10 Years in political positions and thereafter Retire from Politics.
5.   Similarly Maximum Tenure as MLA or MP should be 20 Years.
6.   No One LOSING an Election Shall Contest Again Within 4.5 Years.
7.   No One Should Accept Lower Position After Serving at Higher Position. A Chief Minister or PM after losing Elections should not be Eligible for MLA & MP positions.
Corporate In India ‘ENTRUSTED with Hard Earned Public Deposits For Industrial Application’ Are Themselves Mediocre, Fill Up Company Board With Mediocre and Run over 103 Subsidiaries too, Don’t Engage Qualified Professionals.
1.    When Global Practice is to Keep Owners & Professional Managers at arm’s
Length – Mukesh Ambani and his Family Members Run Public Company funded by Public Deposits run it as Totally Private Enterprise. Mukesh Ambani operates as MD, CEO and Run 103 subsidiaries also.
2.    Even after Monumental FAILURE to develop Oil & Gas Blocks over 17 years and $10b plus investment there is No Accountability and No Resignation, Negligible COMPENSATION for Under Performance to GoI.
3.    Each Executive to CEO should be selected through TRANSPARENT and COMPETITIVE PROCESS.
4.    Each subsidiary should be INDEPENDENTLY Run and Operated Professionally.
5.    Corporate Should MAXIMIZE PROFITS to Public & TAXES to GOI than single point agenda to ‘Enrich A Family’.

All eyes on Geeta-Marwa and Sandeep-Amit bouts

All eyes on Geeta-Marwa and Sandeep-Amit bouts as Haryana Hammers to lock horns with UP Dangal on Wednesday
After a solid start to the season, reigning defending champions Mumbai Maharathis in the inaugural match, the Haryana Hammers are upbeat for their next encounter against UP Dangal in the second season of Patanjali Powervita Pro Wrestling League (PWL) on Wednesday.
It won’t be an easy affair for them, as the star-studded UP team includes Commonwealth gold medallist Geeta Phogat, Babita Kumari, Maria Mamashuk and marquee player Elitsa Yankova along with Amit Dahiya.
The star encounters of the night will be the fights between Geeta and Marwa Amri, along with Sandeep Tomar and Amit Dahiya.
On the other hand, Babita will be eager to repeat her performance same as in season-1, where she outshone World No 3 Ukraine grappler Tatyana Kit, who was representing Haryana then.
After the release of Bollywood film – Dangal, all eyes are set on Geeta and Babita and they are expected to prove that they still have the same energy and aggression, which was portrayed in the film.
Marwa Amri is in good form after beating Sarita in the first bout, and it will be a close battle when she will take on Geeta on the mat. The way Geeta had brought down World champion Oksana Herhel of Ukraine in the previous season, nothing is impossible for the Dhaakad girl.
Haryana squad will also have Kiran (75kg), Indu Choudhary (48kg) and Sumit (74kg) take the mat but it all depends on the result between Andrey Kviatkovski and Rajneesh in men’s 65kg weight category.
“Elitsa is world renowned player and has acclaimed various accolades, whereas we have a huge respect and feel proud for what Geeta has done till now. But having them both makes our team more balanced now,” said  Sunny Katyal, UP Dangal team.
Rio Olympics medallist Elitsa Yankova (48kg) and World championship silver medallist Abdusalam Gadisov are marquee players for UP and Haryana respectively.
