April 2013 CPI inflation at 9.39 %

(Rural India inflation declined to 9.16% in April 2013 as compared to 10.41% in March 2013 and urban India inflation declined to 9.73% in April 2013 as against 10.38% in March 2013)

The all India general CPI (Combined) for April 2013 stands at 9.39% as compared to 10.39% for the previous month of March 2013. The inflation rates for rural and urban areas for April 2013 are 9.16% and 9.73% respectively as compared to 10.41% and 10.38% respectively, for March 2013.

Rate of inflation during April 2013 is high in cereals and products at 16.65%, egg, meat & fish at 13.60%, food and beverages at 10.61%, vegetables at 5.43%, oils and fats at 7.52%, sugar at 10.49%, pulses and products at 10.91%; however inflation is lower in condiments and spices at 5.62%.

Consumer Price Index for the month of April 2013 for rural, urban and combined stood at 128.7, 127.4 and 128.1 respectively.

General Consumer Price Index (combined) is highest in the state of Meghalaya at 136.4, followed by Tamil Nadu at 132.3, Karnataka at 132.2 and West Bengal at 129.4. The index stood lowest in Manipur at 115.4.
