63 % polling recorded in final phase of Lok Sabha polls

Voting for the seventh and final phase ended this evening. Fifty-nine constituencies went to polls today — 13 each are from Uttar Pradesh and Punjab, nine in West Bengal, eight seats each in Bihar and Madhya Pradesh, all four constituencies of Himachal Pradesh, three in Jharkhand and lone seat of Chandigarh.
Around 63 per cent polling was recorded till 6 PM.  57 per cent votes were cast in Uttar Pradesh; 60 per cent in Punjab; 73 in West Bengal; 53 in Bihar; 70  per cent in Madhya Pradesh; 66 in Himachal Pradesh; 71 in Jharkhand; and 64 per cent in Chandigarh.
In Himachal Pradesh, over 66 percent voters exercise their franchise for four Lok Sabaha seats. Official correspondent reports that the state recorded higher polling as compared to the last Lok Sabha election.
In state polling for 4 constituencies spread across 12 districts ends at 6:00 pm today. With this the fate of 45 candidate’s contesting to make it to a parliament has been sealed in EVM machine. An impressive turnout was recorded on all four seats. Polling was by and large peaceful except reports of EVM malfunction in some polling stations. Braving the cold at world’s highest polling station Tashigang of Lahol Sphiti voters came wearing their traditional attire with great enthusiasm.India’s “first” voter 102years old Shyam Saran Negi of kinnaur district also reached to exercise his franchise at the Kalpa booth in Mandi Lok Sabha seat.It may be recalled that  Forty-five candidates are in the fray for the the four loksabha seats–Shimla, Mandi, Hamirpur and Kangra, however direct contest is between the ruling BJP and the opposition Congress.
Uttar Pradesh  Correspondent reports that even in naxal affected areas people came out in large number to vote. Barring some incidents of glitches in EVMs overall polling was peaceful in the last and final phase of elections. Heavy security arrangements were in place on all the polling booths of 13 seats.  Especially in Varanasi people were very enthusiastic in using their franchise, some even came to polling station amidst much fanfare. In those areas of Sonbhadra district which were earlier naxal affected, people voted in large numbers without any fear. First time voters were very enthusiastic to cast their votes. Today’s polling will decide fate of many political stalwarts including senior BJP leader and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Bhojpuri fim star Ravi Kishan Shukla, Union Ministers Manoj Sinha, Anupriya patel, state presidents of BJP and BSP  Mahendra Nath Pandey, and RS Kushwaha and former union Minister RPN Singh. With today’s polling the election extravaganza completed peacefully in the state which saw a high voltage campaigning from almost 2 months and a rigorous seven phased polling on a total of 80 constituencies.
In Bihar voting was held in Nalanda, Patna Sahib, Patliputra, Ara,Buxar, Sasaram, Karakat and Jahanabad Lok Sabha constituencies. Political fate of 157 candidates has been sealed in EVMs after today’s poll.
Official  correspondent reports that in comparison to 2014 elections this time 2.06 percent more  voting was recorded. In rural areas comparatively  more electorates  excercised their right of franchise .Like previous phases of elections  percent of   women voters  was more than male. Important candidates whose political fortune  have been sealed in EVMs are four  Union Ministers Ravi Shankar Prasad,Ramkripal Yadav,Ashwani  Kumar Choubey and R.K.Singh.Besides Shatrughan Sinha of Congress ,former Speaker Meera Kunar,Upendra Kushwaha of RLSP and Misa Bharati of RJD are also trying their luck.
In Jharkhand large number of people today cast their vote on three parliamentary constituencies, Godda, Dumka and Rajmahal. Official correspondent reports that three parliamentary constituencies of Jharkhand- Godda, Dumka and Rajmahal have seen heavy pool today which is higher than 2014. Two of the three seats were won by the JMM in 2014 while Godda was won by the BJP. But this time BJP has shown initiative to establish itself in the strong hold of JMM on one hand, whereas JMM has forced coalition with the Congress, JVM and RJD  to check the BJP. What does today’s heavy poll indicate, is a matter of political speculation and analysis until final results comes out on 23rd May.
In west Bengal, polling was marked by violence. Official correspondent reports that sporadic violence marked the last and final phase of polls in West Bengal. Ruling Trinamool Congress and opposition BJP supporters indiscriminately used bombs, opened fire during series of clashes at Kakinara under Bhatpara assembly constituency where voting for bye elections took place.

The Election Commission removed 3 presiding officers under Jadavpur and Diamond Harbour parliamentary seats for negligence of duties. Police arrested 346 people in connection with different cases from various areas.
Voters have already exercised their franchise for 483 out of the total 542 parliamentary seats in the previous six phases. The election on Vellore seat, which was slated for the second phase, was cancelled. Along with the general election, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Arunachal pradesh, and Sikkim also underwent assembly elections.

May new deal Brexit

British Prime Minister Theresa May today promised a new and improved deal to save her controversial Brexit agreement through Parliament when it comes up for a fourth vote next month.
In a write up in The Sunday Times, Ms May said when the Withdrawal Agreement Bill comes, it will represent a new, bold offer to MPs across the House of Commons, with an improved package of measures that can win new support.
Ms May said that she was open to holding a series of indicative votes in Parliament in a last-ditch effort to try and see her deal through.
The British Prime Minister has been struggling to surmount the opposition to the controversial Irish backstop clause in the agreement, which the EU sees an insurance policy against a hard border between its member-country Ireland and the UK after Brexit.
However, the Brexiteers within her own Tory party have consistently voted against it over fears that it could be used as an excuse to keep Britain tied to EU norms even after its exit from the 28-member European economic bloc.
May warned that even though her new package will be a stronger proposition, it was important for the parliamentary arithmetic to fall into place to avert a chaotic no-deal Brexit and leave the EU with a deal in place by the latest deadline of October 31.

Rahul Gandhi, Loser CONGRESS Party Let Down

May20, 2019 (C) Ravinder Singh ravindersinvent@gmail.com
When ECI is Blind Political Parties had to be EXTRA SMART – a. Make Sure Voters List is accurate, b. Local Leaders Nurture their Constituency, c. Locals implement Party Policies, d. Parties get Adequate Time on Door-Darshan e. Mobilize Voters to Polling Stations, f. Ensure EVMs are Properly Operated, g. Agents are Alert and Ensure Proper Counting. h. Pre-Registration of Candidates and i. Registration of Party Manifestos – Campaigning STRICTLY based on Manifesto.
Congress was very deficient at all stages when BJP was 200% Professional. I shall not be surprised in case Rahul Gandhi and Sonia lose this time. He was let Down by Kapil Sibal who lost cases and didn’t PLUG NINE HOLES IN THE ELECTION PROCESS.
It is not just Anari Rahul Gandhi*, Member of Parliament since 2004, Congress party largely consists of habitual losers, didn’t lead a single motion on behalf of People of India – even during 10 year UPA rule. He doesn’t understand a thing. *When Campaigning on Farmers issues in 2017 UP Assembly Elections none of its UP Leaders was Farmer.
Instead of making FRIENDS in Parliament with all regional parties and leaders in 15 years, he was found in company of few second generation of Congress Leaders was himself least interest in Lok Sabha working, didn’t let others in party work.
Repeating losers again and again who had Acquired Substantial WEALTH and Going to Polls without FUNCTIONAL CADRE & Ground Work to show over years is most foolish.
In 2005 GOI introduced SEZ Policy – RIL for example acquired around 25,000 Hectares of Land for SEZs in three places – Mukesh Ambani had no interest in Promoting Small Medium & Large Industries was interested in PROPERTY DEALING. 8 years later he invited 50,000 STARTUPS with promise of PARTNERSHIP but nothing materialized. RIL was DELAYING KG BASIN EXPLORATION & PRODUCTION, but SPEEDILY BUILDING EXPORT REFINERY which was of Least Priority and also started RETAIL business also was interested in FOOD CHAIN. He had NO CONNECTION with PUBLIC & GROUND REALITY.
Rahul was silent as Farmland in Haryana & Maharashtra was forcibly taken over by Ambani – it was years of struggle. Electricity Meters were running up to 60% fast in Delhi when Shiela Dikshit was Chief Minister – everyday there were stories in media about FABRICATED THEFT CASES in 2005 etc.
Shiela Dikshit lost all seats in Delhi Assembly and Lok Sabha elections to Arvind Kejriwal. But was made Chief of Party in UP for state elections in 2017 and Congress Polled only 6.2% votes. When BJP has Allies for 7-8 General Elections – Rahul failed to stich alliances Particularly in States where it couldn’t win any seat.
SAM PITRODA who filed BOGUS PATENTS since 1976 – prepared WEAK MANIFESTO, Congress made PROMISE to 5 Cr Households already served by many scheme – nothing for rest of 20 Cr Households, Industry, Farmers etc.

Fresh intelligence data shows that terrorists plan to target two military sites on the Indian-controlled part of Kashmir, New Delhi-based ANI reported on Friday, citing government sources.
The installations mentioned are Srinagar and Awantipora airbases, both in western Jammu and Kashmir State, bordering Pakistan. Security forces in and around the bases have been reportedly put on high alert.

Manning jailed on probe of Julian

A judge sentenced ex-U.S. soldier Chelsea Manning again to jail for refusing to testify over leaking 700K documents to Wikileaks. She could serve up to 18 months. She already served 7 years in prison for espionage.

Manning told reporters outside the courtroom that she will persist in defying the federal subpoena “forever, indefinitely.”
Her remarks to media Chelsea Manning. Where are the defenders of liberty and decency?

The new grand jury subpoena appears to be related to the US prosecution of WikiLeaks publisher Julian Assange, who was arrested last month and is currently awaiting his extradition hearing in the UK. Assange is officially accused of conspiring with Manning to hack into Pentagon computers, while acknowledging the hack never actually happened.
A federal judge has ordered Chelsea Manning to be jailed again for refusing to testify in a grand jury probe of Julian Assange, threatening the whistleblower with fines if the defiance continues. Manning says she would rather die.
“I would rather starve to death than to change my opinion in this regard. And when I say that, I mean that quite literally," Manning said during a hearing at a federal courthouse in Virginia on Thursday.
The US Army intelligence specialist has already spent seven years behind bars for handing over classified military and diplomatic files to WikiLeaks in 2010, and another 62 days in jail until last week for refusing to testify before another grand jury,
when asked, Chelsea Manning why the government is even going ahead with this process knowing that she'll never betray her principles to testify.
She explained that the government's "goal here is really to re litigate the court-martial" for which she already served 7 years.
Manning faces a fine of $500 a day if she continues to refuse cooperation after 30 days in jail. The fine will go up to $1,000 a day after two months.
“I have never heard of jailing a witness for this long,” former FBI agent and whistleblower Colleen Rowley

PM Conte holds talks with Haftar

Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte held talks with Libyan strongman Khalifa Haftar during a surprise visit to Rome on Thursday, calling for an end to his month-long assault on Tripoli. “We want a ceasefire and we feel that the political path is the only solution,” Conte told reporters.
A joint statement, Italy and France stressed the importance of an immediate ceasefire in Libya and called for “the resumption of dialogue within the framework of the United Nations command to allow Libyan citizens to decide their future through democratic elections.”
“Improving the situation of the civilian population is a priority and requires a humanitarian truce. The political process must be based on the principles and rules agreed at the Paris, Palermo and Abu Dhabi conferences, and we assume that all parties are unequivocally distancing themselves from terrorist groups,” the statement said.
The sources said that Libyan Army Commander General Khalifa Haftar is expected to leave Rome for Paris to meet with French President Emmanuel Maaron, according to the Italian news agency AKI.

Haftar’s bid to unseat UN-backed premier Fayez al-Serraj and take control of the Libyan capital has reached a military and political impasse after a month of fighting, AFP said.
French President Emmanuel Macron will meet Haftar in the middle of next week to discuss how to resume peace talks in the country, Reuters quoted a French presidential source as saying on Thursday.
Macron last week called for a ceasefire in the month-long battle for Libya’s capital Tripoli after meeting Serraj.

F-16 pilot safely ejects

An F-16 fighter jet being flown in routine training exercises crashed into a warehouse just outside March Air Reserve Base in Southern California on Thursday, but the pilot safely ejected and no injuries were reported, a base spokesperson said.
The Los Angeles Times, citing a base fire official, reported that the crash ignited a small fire, and a photo of the accident scene posted on local television station KCAL-TV showed a gaping hole in the roof of a large grey building.
The warplane went down at about 3:30PM and slammed into a warehouse at the end of the base runway, base spokesperson Major Perry Covington told Reuters by telephone.
“The pilot did eject and the pilot is OK, and there are no other injuries at this time,” he said, adding he did not believe anyone was inside the warehouse when the crash occurred.
The sprawling installation, located in Riverside County, California, about 105 kilometres (65 miles) east of Los Angeles, is home to the Air Force Reserve 452nd Air Mobility Wing. There are normally between 2,000 and 6,000 Air Force reservists and other personnel on base at any given time, Covington said.
A section of Interstate 215, a major north-south route running through the base, was closed in both directions after the crash, according to the California Highway Patrol. The CHP urged motorists to avoid the area.
