In Gujarat Congress was reduced to 75 Seats and 40.7% votes, Congress (O) Polled 23.6%, Kissan Majdoor Party 11.53%, Independents 11.58%. BJP won 18 seats just 8.82%.
1980: Congress bounced back at Center & in Gujarat won 141 seats and 51.04% votes, Janta Dal faction 21 seats and 22.77% votes – BJP just 9 seats and 14.02% votes.
1985: When Congress won 149 seats, Janta Dal won 14 seats– 19.25% votes and BJP won 11 seats – 14.96% votes.
1990: Equation changed JD won 70 seats, 29.36% votes, BJP 67 seats and 26.69% votes, Congress was reduced to 33 seatsand 30.34%.
